Day 332 – Driftwood

Driftwood cast into the sea
Sent out to find solace
To happen upon calmer waters
Or wash upon welcoming shores

Like scattered chips of wood
We have been tossed out as well
Left to weather, to soften our edges.
We learn to carve away our excess.

We flesh out the rough parts
And smooth down the beauty,
We soak in salt mist
And warmth of the sun’s blanket.

Clinging to one another,
We wish to grow together
Yet we drift further apart
Following different winds and currents.
