Day 50 – Plugged

It’s the awkward silence that you let blend into the everyday sounds that begins to drown out the nonsense – the nonsensical crowding of voices, laughter, snickers and jeers – you’ve heard it.

The silence that you refuse to let meet its end, though it begins with nothing in mind, just something to pass the time. Sometimes, it rhymes, as it can both reflect and neglect the most avid listeners.

For when the world needs people to listen, you choose to silence them. Today, you chose to create that silence. But, know that by drowning out others with the headphones that you have so quickly plugged into your ears, you are the one to allow such an absence of noise.

With technology’s carefully crafted toys, you’ve discovered the way to perpetuate silence. Inadvertently, you will no longer speak, nor listen.
